About Us

Bishop’s Family Cycles is a bike shop specializing in cargo bikes with the objective of encouraging and assisting families to get out riding. Bishop’s aims to be a resource for families, reluctant cyclists, new commuters and those interested in replacing their cars with economical, green-energy alternatives. Bishop's has a wide assortment of family bikes and accessories to make biking with your family safe, fun, and easy. We believe that family cycling is revolutionary.
Taking its name from our youngest child, Bishop Jack, (Bash, as we lovingly call him) the idea for Bishop’s Family Cycles came about after his unexpected early arrival, those long nights in the NICU gave us a chance to re-evaluate our longterm plans for our family.
In July of 2021, six months after opening Bishop's Family Cycles, Bash was rushed to BC Children's Hospital and diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. He went through all available treatments before succumbing to the disease at Canuck Place Children’s Hospice in Vancouver, dying on August 14th 2023 in Robert's arms, surrounded by his family.
Bash was a joy to be around and loved being out on our bikes and riding his own. We are so lucky to have had him in our life and are able to find some solace in his legacy, the community built around Bishop’s Family Cycles. Every bike that comes from our store is a direct result of him being here for the short time that he was with us. Thank you for all your support and allowing us to be a part of your families’ lives. We look forward to helping more families get out biking and watching our sweet Bash’s influence on this community grow.
We are here to help and we hope to see you soon,
Liz & Robert Kemp
